The Sounds of Brazil Come to Chesapeake
Chesapeake Sister Cities hosted the Joinville Quartet--a musical group from Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil--at a recent dinner and concert held at Great Bridge United Methodist Church. Quartet members Daniele Haak, Germano Haak, Guilherme Bachtold and Isabel Mendez presented a musical travelogue through Brazil, vividly bringing to life the cultures of country's various regions. A highlight of the concert was a song that the quartet dedicated to the memory of the late Dr. William E. Ward who served as Chesapeake's Mayor when Chesapeake Sister Cities was organized in 2001. The audience also enjoyed an authentic Brazilian meal catered by Taste of Brazil.
Chuck and Cindy Harris hosted the Quartet and Sister Cities members at a Southern BBQ dinner.
